Cost-effective Gigabit Fiber Switch for Residential and FTTx CPE Applications The PLANET GSD-805F provides 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports with 1 SFP port shared to provide Gigabit fiber uplink capability and non-blocking wire-speed performance for various applications that need long distance data transmission. It is designed in mental shape which is ideal for easy deployment of cabin / desktop network.

The GSD-805F plays as a high-performance edge device for FTTx solutions. With one mini-GBIC 1000Base-SX / LX SFP (Small-Form Factor Pluggable) interface support, the deployed distance of the GSD-805F can be extended from 550 meters (via Multi-mode fiber) up to above 10/20/30/40/50/70/120 kilometers (via Single-mode fiber, respectively). To build a network solution of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) or FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) for ISPs and FTTB (Fiber to the Building) for enterprises, various distances of SFP are optional choices for customers. The GSD-805F can handle extremely large amounts of data in a secure topology linking to a metro Switch, backbone or high capacity servers.

Energy-SavingThe GSD-805F uses new engine that provides energy saving up to 40% less energy than normal Switch but not reduce the performance. The GSD-805F incorporates two advanced Green Networking technologies:• Idle Mode Link Down power saving• Intelligent Scales Power based on cable lengthThe Idle mode Link Down power saving of the GSD-805F complies with IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard to automatically lower power for a given port when it is not linked. With the Idle mode Link Down power savings technology, the GSD-805F will automatically adjusts power usage of the ports that are shutdown or not connected to network device. The other green technology adopted, Intelligent Scales Power, is an intelligent algorithm that actively determines the appropriate power level based on cable length. When connecting to the GSD-805F with Ethernet cable shorter than 20m, a device can obtain maximum power saving because the GSD-805F would automatically detect the Ethernet cable length and reduce power usage. The connected device can substantially reduce overall power consumption, which makes a significant contribution to energy saving.
